Success Stories

Funding provided through the Ohio Third Frontier initiative has supported the formation of 571 new companies, expansion of existing companies, 48,000 new jobs and more than $6.6 in economic activity throughout Ohio. Jobs have been created in a wide range of industries ranging from manufacturing and agriculture to biomedicine and renewable energy.

American Trim, LLC (Lima) - A.J. Jones
After 35 years on the job, "A.J." Jones was worrying about being downsized, but thanks to a Third Frontier grant he spent the next two years helping design and build a revolutionary metal forming process that also resulted in his name being attached to two patents - a dream he never envisioned.

When John Formica's company fled to Florida and took his job with it, he decided he wanted to keep his family - and his highly specialized skills - in Ohio. However, there were few jobs requiring his skills - that is, until a Third Frontier grant provided just what he was seeking.

As a lifelong "Buckeye," it broke Jeremy Westerheide's heart to think about moving his wife and infant son out of state so he could use his degree to get a good job. His spirits soared when a Third Frontier program created a new hydrogen fuel cell program that could his skills right here in Ohio.
